Oversee the candidate filing process and develop training material for candidates and committees. Maintain in-depth knowledge of campaign finance law, reporting schedules, and campaign reporting software. Manage the Candidates and Campaign Finance section of the Board of Elections website, directories, and databases of elected officials. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Maintain extensive knowledge of federal and state campaign finance laws, municipal ordinances, and historical State Board of Elections advisory opinions; monitor the frequent changes to campaign finance laws; seek SBOE advisory opinions when necessary; be a proficient user of state campaign finance software; conduct complex financial audits of campaign finance reports across multiple reporting schedules; report audit issues to candidates and committees; report to the SBOE when candidates or committees fail to submit reports by the statutory deadlines; provide email, telephone, and in-person customer support to candidates and committees; upload campaign finance reports to the Wake County website on a daily basis. | 1 | 75% | • | Manage the preparation, logistics, and documentation for candidate filing periods 1-2 times per year; notarize candidate filing documents; collect and audit candidate filing fees; track and record unexpired terms; maintain the Candidate Information portal of the Wake County website; develop and publish candidate information guides prior to each election. | 2 | 15% | • | Aid with voter registration and absentee by mail tasks, audit precinct documents and vote totals after each election, research provisional ballots, manage public lists of elected officials, maintain extensive knowledge of election procedures for the purpose of providing telephone and roving support to precinct officials during early voting and on Election Day. | 3 | 10% | | | | | | | |
