Primary Purpose

Evaluates for intervention support services to empower clients to move toward self-sufficiency via employment. Serves the clients by obtaining information and making the appropriate referrals to in-house and community resources.  Assesses the family's needs, educates participants on life-changing decisions, disseminates employment information, and evaluates for services that will eliminate barriers to self-sufficiency.

 

Essential Functions

 

 

Priority

Gathers information regarding client and family's household composition, employment skills, interest and barriers. Reviews information provided to determine job readiness. Discusses participants route to employment with specifics outlined to obtain goals,( job search, short term full time training, volunteer work experience, employment, etc).

Negotiates/develops a flexible and realistic employment focused plan with the participant that promotes self-sufficiency. Updates and revises the agreement as changes occur. Prepares and maintains written narratives of participant’s activities and supportive services to assist participants to transition into successful long-term employment.

Educates and disseminates employment and work focused activities. Utilizes participants previous work history /activities to arrange present and future service needs. Empowers participants in their goals to make decisions that will promote self-sufficiency.

30%

Collects records of work hours, job search, work experience, training/school attendance, and other activities and key into Employment Program Information Services database.  Uses NCWorks and NCFAST computer systems to document services and provide referrals.

Conducts interviews as required by program rules.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 


Additional Responsibilities

Attends staff meetings; participates in division and section workgroups.

Completes county and program trainings, both optional and required.

Completes Daysheet and time sheets.

Conducts training for job readiness.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs (e.g., Microsoft Office, NC FAST, and electronic document management system).

Ability to negotiate with customers a plan working toward self-sufficiency.
