Primary Purpose

Coordinates all activities related to recruitment, training, management and retention of fosters. Organizes placement of eligible animals into temporary foster homes and ensure compliance with preventative care and medical check-ups.

 

Essential Functions

 

 

Priority

•

Maintains a successful Foster Program by coordinating the placement of eligible animals into the WCAC Foster Program. Coordinates eligible animals and foster participants using social media, email and phone calls.

Manages the administrative tasks of the Foster Program. Processes applications and Shelter Buddy foster transactions. Responds to emails, develops and revises protocols and policies, participates in off-site events and provides backup for the Transfer and Volunteer/Outreach Coordinators.

Recruits, trains and retains Foster Program participants to ensure a sufficient number are eligible for foster animals

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

High school diploma or GED


Required Experience

•

Three years of experience in animal center operations


Required Licenses and Certifications

•

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Preferred Education

•

Bachelor's Degree

Business Administration, Animal Husbandry or Communications or similar program

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook comfortable learning and using online

information systems

Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new

things.

Knowledge of social media usage and ways to target community members, communication, and dissemination techniques and

methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and recruit animal fosters via written, oral, and visual

media.
