Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Leads the shelter medicine team and provides high quality vet exams, care and follow up for shelter animals. Assists Animal Control with animal cruelty cases and provides reports and expert witness testimony. | 1 | 70% | • | Supports Chief Veterinarian with daily work flow for animal staff including protocol improvements and maintaining best practices in veterinary medicine / shelter medicine as well as process improvements, written protocols, staff and stakeholder education. Provides surgical relief when Chief Veterinarian is out. | 2 | 20% | • | Develops relationships with community partners for advancement of shelter medicine, including furthering a humane community, process improvement, relief veterinarian services and after hours emergency care. | 3 | 10% | | | | | | | |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | • | Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat shelter animals. This includes symptoms, medical and surgical treatment options, drug choices and preventive healthcare measures typically found in an animal shelter setting.
