Primary Purpose

Protects the public health and the environment by managing a process for improved operations in the Environmental Services Department through management decisions involving the integration of data, software systems and operations. Leads the process changes associated with new systems and upgrades to Energov; review current processes for process improvement and lead the implementation of business analytics initiatives such as QlikView and Power BI.

Provides leadership to staff, contractors and manages systems to improve day-to-day operations, provide optimal customer experiences, streamline processes, improve data analytics and business intelligence capabilities of the Department

Consults with Division staff to increase understanding of opportunities afforded by the technology that supports their operation, prioritizing those opportunities, and implementing projects that require change to the process and/or the supporting computer systems

Leads special projects, investigations, seasonal and emergency functions and interagency support

Consults with division staff regarding current rules, policies and procedures for the Wake County Waste Water and Technical Assistance Programs

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field


Required Experience

•

Five years of experience in environmental health, environmental planning, inspections or engineering


Required Licenses and Certifications

•

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
