Manages the Groundwater Outreach Program including GIS of sites to track contamination and planning for outreach efforts. Interacts with State and Federal officials including toxicologists, EPA onsite administrators and public affairs officials. Assists with the development of business plan, budget and staff work plans. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Develops outreach campaigns for well water safety. Implements campaigns with support from field and lab staff. Assists Groundwater Manager with program planning and long-term goals. | 1 | 20% | • | Reviews site conditions surrounding sites for new wells or new construction and establishes testing requirements for each permit. | 2 | 30% | • | Manages groundwater testing program for priority contamination areas. Coordinates field staff with site assessments, well sampling, notifying well owners of sample results, advising well owners of risks associated with contaminated water, and advises of remediation options. Tracks contamination at neighborhood or site-specific scale. | 3 | 20% | • | Assesses groundwater quality county-wide using data and latest scientific information. Recommends priorities for outreach program and changes to practice, policy, and regulations to improve public health protections for private well users. | 4 | 10% | • | Provides technical assistance for well problems, water testing recommendations, and test interpretation. Investigates well water complaints. Identifies potential remedies based on site-specific conditions. Determines need for referral to other agencies or enforcement of county well regulations. | 5 | 20% | | | | | | | |
