Primary Purpose

Monitors, operates and maintains landfill gas collection system components and environmental monitoring and control systems. Directs contractors and consultants in providing landfill gas related efforts.

 

Essential Functions

Monitors blower and flare and coordinates maintenance, cost estimates and repairs

Inspects and makes temporary repairs as needed to the landfill gas wells and/or collection system piping

Works with landfill operator and other Solid Waste Division staff to minimize odor related issues and maximize landfill gas collection

Coordinates landfill gas well tuning events

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree


Required Experience

•

Two years of job-related experience


Required Licenses and Certifications

•

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Basic knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local government, political, and regulatory processes and issues

•

Work requires knowledge of solid waste services and operations involving the collection, disposal, recycling and processing of materials, community collection, landfill construction and operations, or other comparable program areas.

•

Maintain knowledge of equipment, site conditions and regulatory issues

•

Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Word, G-Mail, Access or Excel or related systems).
