Primary Purpose

Serves as gatekeeper for public access to the South Wake Landfill or East Wake Transfer Station. Operates scale weighing system, records and collects proper data, collects associated revenue and reports to Solid Waste Management and Finance Department. Addresses public questions and comments regarding solid waste disposal issues. Performs preliminary screening of each load of material delivered to the South Wake Landfill or East Wake Transfer Station, communicates policies and procedures to facility users, addresses public inquiries and directs them to proper services (on or off-site).

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
