Primary Purpose

Performs duties as a team lead if/when assigned to coordinate team activities in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Works independently or leads a team to complete maintenance duties and perform repair or replacement to electrical, emergency power, fire alarm systems and related devices in Wake County facilities as directed by Team Lead and/or Supervisor. Performs preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability of building infrastructure and performs required testing of electrical, emergency power, fire alarm and related systems. Performs and completes daily routine, corrective and preventative maintenance duties as well as emergency work orders as assigned including power outages, fire alarm troubles, generator failures etc. Escorts contractors performing work within Wake County facilities. Reports daily activities to the Trades Specialist (team lead) and/or the Trades Supervisor. Enters information on work orders including time, materials and field notes on maintenance and repairs into GSA's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Performs work Independently or leads a team to add new infrastructure to support projects or minor renovations.

Completes administrative duties to record labor hours, material, expenses, and work orders. Maintains records of personnel and team activities. Records time worked in the online database (ESS) provided for County employees. Records work tasks completed with required data in the work order management system (Maximo). Maintains other reports and documents as required by program standards.

Prepares electrical, emergency power and fire alarm systems for severe weather and adverse conditions.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 


Additional Responsibilities

•

Responds to adverse weather events and emergency response operations as required. Cleans up and restores county properties after damage due to natural events, civil protests, or other unplanned events.

•

Serves in an on-call position that responds to all after hours work order requests.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Required Education

High school diploma or GED

Two years of experience in electrical maintenance
