Primary Purpose

Supervises, and manages the administrative and technical work in the program areas assigned to the Electrical shop. Assigns work responsibilities and coordinates with other trades shops and divisions on all maintenance, repairs, upgrades or replacements in county facilities, electrical and fire alarm infrastructure. Maintains, enters, and distributes information on repairs and requests with GSA's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maintains records on equipment inventory including, warranty paperwork, required testing, age, model and serial number. Manages all phases of work performed by staff and contractors. Provides professional and technical guidance and oversight to business programs and staff with regards to program management, service delivery, and contracted services. Provides operational improvements through maintenance, training and research, job estimating, safety checks and job scheduling.

Manages and directs assigned programs to include: repair, replacement, upgrade, and maintenance of Wake County facility's electrical, emergency power and fire alarm systems. Performs tasks that include maintaining and installing electrical and fire alarm infrastructure, replacing lighting fixtures, testing of emergency power systems, testing fire alarm systems and minor renovation work. Manages a preventative maintenance program in accordance with industry standards, operational and maintenance requirements and any local ordinances. Conducts assessments and maintenance actions to develop and improve the Electrical Maintenance program. Schedules, inspects and records inspections and maintenance actions as required.

Supervises, coordinates and leads the work assignments for staff while delivering program services and completing work order assignments. Provides materials, tools and safety equipment to employees to complete the assigned tasks. Provides technical and administrative supervision to the work unit in all aspects to support assigned programs. Completes employee performance reviews and evaluations. Identifies and coordinates training needs to develop staff.

Receives, assigns and completes work orders within the CMMS database. Plans and supervises work associated with service requests. Inspects work sites for quality control, quality assurance and completion per project specifications and department standards. Tracks and records work order labor, material costs and other relative data.

Completes administrative tasks in support of program services, employee supervision, work order management, and special projects. Completes time sheets and material requisitions. Processes invoices and credit card transactions in accordance with departmental requirements and county policy. Generates tracking reports, project estimates, material lists, and other supporting documents and reports as needed. Maintains equipment inventory to include maintenance and service records. Prepares advanced documentation to assist with budget management, policy development and application, human resource actions, reporting and data management, and project coordination with designers, vendors, contractors, other governmental agencies and the general public.

Plans, schedules and completes special project work to support divisional programs and work order management. Reviews plans and specifications to insure projects meet county standards, local ordinances and applicable codes. Inspects work sites for quality control, quality assurance and compliance with project specifications. Coordinates work with designers, contractors and other stake holders.

Additional Responsibilities

•

Responds to adverse weather events and emergency response operations as required. Cleans up and restores county properties after damage due to natural events, civil protests, or other unplanned events.

•

Serves in an on call position to respond to after hours work.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
