Primary Purpose

Serves in a senior level position that is responsible for all exterior facility maintenance and repairs and interior facility service contracts for a large, diverse and complex group of buildings including the service areas of civil structures, construction services, landscape maintenance, sign/graphics, contract administration, janitorial, pest management, window/building finishes maintenance, and environmental remediation/compliance. Works in an intense and dynamic environment and is expected to think creatively, manage operating and capital budgets and respond rapidly to a constant influx of demands. Provides leadership and supervision for activities pertaining to the maintenance and repair of all environmental and flood control structures and capital assets. Provides administrative and technical supervision, with responsibility for inspecting the facility regularly for maintenance needs and safety hazards and works with staff regarding code compliance including ADA, environmental and facility condition issues.

Develops and manages capital and operating budgets.

Collaborates with multiple and widely diversified county, municipal, state, federal, and private groups and serves on various committees.

Develops, trains and implements plans in response to emergencies and inclement weather events. Organizes and dispatches resources as needed.

Supervises assigned staff by coaching, providing direction for employees, approving timesheets and conducting performance reviews.

Additional Responsibilities

•

Responds to adverse weather events and emergency response operations as required for essential employees. Coordinates county-wide snow and ice operations to include clearing and removing precipitation (snow and ice) and debris from facilities after severe weather; operation of snow removal equipment, plow trucks, spreaders, power brooms, blowers, and other commercial equipment; application of brine, salt and deicing compounds; operation of hand held power equipment; and the utilization of common hand held tools such as snow shovels, brooms, push spreaders, etc. Installs and recovers barricades, cones, and other safety equipment. Cleans up and restores county properties after damage due to natural events, civil protests, or other unplanned events.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
