Works independently or leads a team to complete maintenance or repairs to county vehicles or equipment that include administrative, service, emergency response, EMS and Sheriff vehicles. Performs preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability of county vehicles. Performs and completes all vehicle repairs including complex vehicle diagnosis. Reports daily activities to Automotive Specialist, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor and/or Service and Asset Manager. Enters information into Fleet Management System including time, materials and field notes on maintenance and repairs. Supports division with various duties as needed. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Leads a team or independently repairs vehicles including replacing tires, repair tires, oil change, bulbs, battery repairs, brakes. Repairs complex vehicle systems such as engines, transmissions, HVAC, steering, electrical, body and chassis, exhaust, onboard diagnostic and glass. Utilizes both county issued and required personally owned tools. Operates equipment and tools independently, efficiently and in a safe manner. | 1 | 40% | • | Leads a team or independently tests complex electrical systems, emergency equipment and vehicle diagnostic systems. | 2 | 30% | • | Completes administrative duties to record labor hours, material, expenses, and work orders. Maintains records of personnel and team activities. Additional Responsibilities | • | Responds to adverse weather events and emergency response operations as required for essential employees. Cleans up and restores county properties after damage due to natural events, civil protests, or other unplanned events. | | | |
