Establishes the identity of all arrested individuals based upon fingerprints. Fingerprints and photographs arrestees and adjudicated juveniles utilizing an automated fingerprinting Livescan system and correctly applies charging data. Transmits charging data to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Corrects mistakes in Wake County arrest records as identified and ensures correction of such data in all subsequent systems. Collects statutorily mandated DNA collections from applicable persons as determined by charge type. Completes Civil Identification Unit operations including entering customer information into appropriate systems, fingerprinting citizens utilizing a Livescan for fingerprint-based background checks, and covers staff shortages due to leave and approved time off. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Verifies identity of person presented. Reviews required identification for civil functions to ensure the authenticity and validity. Capture arrestee's fingerprints and have fingerprint systems compare the results for criminal arrest functions. Verifies system comparisons through ten print examination to verify the identity of arrestee. | 1 | 15% | • | Utilizes Livescan technology to capture fingerprints. Instructs subject and physically assists them with the completion of the fingerprints. Completes mugshots for arrestees to include head on and side profile views. Ensures collection of high quality prints and photographs. Submits or provides fingerprints and photographs as required. | 2 | 35% | • | Questions citizens or arrestees in person for the purpose of collecting biographical and arrest data. Transfers information as necessary to a fingerprint card or the Livescan. Uses information to assist in identity verification. Transfers information as required by statute for criminal justice purposes. | 3 | 30% | • | Coordinates and oversees the collection of statutorily required arrest DNA collection. Ensures integrity of the collections and the proper completion of all data fields. Ensures the appropriate storage and packaging integrity of the sample. Submits samples for submission to the SBI based on agency protocol and procedure. | 4 | 5% | • | Completes training and maintains certification for access to Division of Criminal Information (DCI) records. Inputs arrestee information and examines returned results to assist in identity verification.
