Returns all submitted evidence to the investigating agency or submits and transports received evidence to the NC State Crime Laboratory for further analysis once the analysis is complete. Maintains evidence custody and transfer practices in accordance with CCBI procedures and ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation requirements. Ensures appropriate custody transfer documentation in CCBI's records management system. Provides courtroom testimony for the chain of custody. Documents and transfers received evidence to the appropriate division/unit for forensic analysis. Returns all submitted evidence to the investigating agency or submits and transports received evidence to the SBI for further analysis. Ensures appropriate packaging and labeling of all received evidence. | 1 | 60% | • | Performs pre-logging and submission of evidence items to the State Crime Laboratory. Maintains a current knowledge of SBI evidence acceptance policies and procedures. Assists staff members in the pre-logging of evidence for submission to the SBI. | 4 | 5% | • | Serves as an evidence submission liaison for internal and external customers. Provides guidance, direction and training to outside law enforcement agencies regarding CCBI's evidence submission and acceptance procedures. Provides instruction and guidance internally to Crime Scene Investigators regarding SBI submission practices. | 3 | 10% | • | Reports generation for laboratory evidence receipt and analysis requests. Participates and conducts regular evidence audits. Ensures accuracy of chain of custody documents prior to acceptance and/or return of evidence. | 2 | 25% | | | | | | | |
