Primary Purpose

Works as part of a team to serve as a department trainer, mentor and leader. Performs senior level work in one or more of the following areas: real estate, personal property, vehicles, foreclosure, accounting, human resources, budget or technology and provides support for complex issues to call center agents, appraisers and auditing staff by applying knowledge of business practices, procedures, tax law, technology, and experience. Exercises considerable initiative with wide latitude for independent judgment in a highly visible role.

Develops and executes training plans for probationary staff

Assesses effectiveness of training; leads review sessions and provides coaching to probationary staff

Delivers first line assistance to counter staff and manages escalated customer service situations

Maintains employee training and testing materials and administers knowledge based testing

Develops and conducts effective instructional programs for all staff

Evaluates applications, conducts interviews and selects applicants to fill Tax Agent positions

Maintains data and supporting records of receipts, expenditures and balances of accounts

Assists the Tax Administrator, Deputy Tax Administrator and Appraisal/Collection Managers with special projects or external inquiries as needed

Serves as point of contact for County departments, satellite payments locations and external vendors to assist with and resolve issues

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or  related field


Required Experience

•

Two years of experience as a Tax Agent or in a related role


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Preferred Education

•

Bachelor's Degree

In Accounting, Business, Finance or related field

And


Preferred Experience

Experience working with ad valorem property taxes in North Carolina
