Primary Purpose

Establishes and maintains financial records which may include budgets, expenditures, revenues, vendor enrollment and payroll. Reviews and monitors data and prepares financial reports. May assist departments with technical support in policies, procedures, budget development, and financial standards.

Collects and analyzes data regarding budgets, expenditures and revenues.

Reviews and audits source documents and post transactions. Prepares reports and reconciles ledgers.

Reviews data collected and may monitor budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to the departments and outside reporting agencies.

Coordinates with department to assess needs and requirement for fiscal monitoring and reporting.

•

Provides ongoing technical assistance to departments on fiscal policies and procedures and budget guidelines.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field


Required Experience

•

Two years of experience in accounting


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Preferred Licenses and Certifications


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

•

Considerable knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures and financial practices.

•

Ability to interpret and apply common to moderately complex Federal and State fiscal regulations.

•

Ability to analyze and correct financial problems and accounting errors.

•

Ability to make minor adjustments to the accounting system and procedures.

•

Ability to prepare interpretive or analytical Accounting or financial reports.
