Primary Purpose

Interfaces with the fire departments at the daily operations level through service delivery coordination and support. Works on initiatives of the Fire Commission such as apparatuses, equipment and communication committee activities. Supports fire departments that are in preparation for NCRRS/ISO ratings for the calendar year. Supervises the support service staff (Logistics and Technology Coordinator) and others as assigned. Supports the Fire Services Director by serving as the liaison between Wake County Government and contracting fire departments as well as providing staff support to the Wake County Fire Commission.

 

Essential Functions

Serves as liaison to allied agencies, contracting agencies and fire departments (Office of the State Fire Marshal, RWECC, Soil a Water District, Wake County GIS, Radio admin, IT, local municipalities, etc.) to facilitate daily operational activities.

Additional Responsibilities

•

Responds to major emergencies to support fire departments and Wake County Fire and Emergency Management.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Fire Prevention, Fire Science or related field

Six years of experience in fire service including at least two years of supervisory experience
