Primary Purpose

Administers employee benefits and leave programs for employees and retirees. Educates and counsels employees on benefit and leave related programs and policies. Assists with claims issues and benefit plan changes.

 

Essential Functions

 

 

Priority

•

Counsels and communicates with employees regarding benefits programs, open enrollment, qualifying life events, and separation. Ensures documentation is complete and accurate for HR payroll processing

Provides benefit onboarding to new employees by ensuring understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Presents new employee benefits orientation. Monitors enrollment to ensure forms and dependent documentation are received, complete, and accurate

•

Conducts retirement consultations with employees, coordinates retirement paperwork, provides education on retirement benefits, and provides support to retirees post-retirement as it pertains to Wake County benefits

•

Advises supervisors and employees on leave programs and assists in the processing of leave requests

Administers tuition reimbursement program application process

•

Supports the Living Great @ Wake program and other benefits and wellness events and initiatives

•

Provides support for special projects as assigned


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Associate's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field


Required Experience

•

Three years of experience in human resources administration


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
