Primary Purpose

Functions as a clinical resource to insure that medical services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner, addressing patient needs as expeditiously as possible. Diagnoses, implement plans and evaluates care at the detention center. Serves as a integral part of the health care team who collaborates with the medical providers to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Insures that ancillary services are provided as necessary.

Assesses, monitors, evaluates and documents resident's medical, physical, psychiatric and emotional needs.

Coordinates and administers medication, therapeutic agents and treatments.

Collaborates with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity and appropriateness of care to residents.

Provides patient education and interacts with families and other detention or medical facilities.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
