Primary Purpose

Directs the overall quality, adequacy of services provided, and supervision of nursing staff. Establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for clinical services that meet and promote the standards of quality. Assures that care is coordinated between services and that all resident needs are identified through the assessment process and addressed through the implementation of the Plan of Care and the supervisory process.

Directs clinical nursing care, infection control activities and pharmacy management and utilization ensuring compliance with established regulations, protocols, procedures and accreditation standards.

Provides direct supervision to Detention Nurse Supervisors and staff ensuring appropriate assessment, treatment and documentation.

Maintains and communicates nursing policies, procedures, quality assurance/improvement program, and accreditation standards to staff to assure compliance.

Communicates with the Medical Director and providers regarding residents needs and problems.

•

Serves as a problem-solving resource for nursing staff on resident's issues.

•

Communicates with families, detention center, medical and other outside facilities for continuity of care.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Master's degree in Nursing or related health field


Required Experience

•

Five years of nursing experience in related field

North Carolina Board of Nursing Licensed Registered Nurse
