Primary Purpose

Process orders from agency electronic medical record system or submitted by the Tuberculosis (TB) or HIV provider and conduct radiographs using standard/best practice techniques. Provide support to the TB unit when there is no need/demand for radiographs. Serves as a Wake County Fit Test Trainer, and Fit Tester/Fit Coordinator for the TB and Communicable Disease units.

 

Essential Functions

•

Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and follows established clinical and regulatory procedures in regards to patient safety and care including proper radiation protection and shielding techniques. Provides explanation of process to patient in understandable terms and answers questions. Executes radiographs.

Conducts quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, and report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.

 Documents in electronic health record, as well as in the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NCEDSS).

•

Prepare, clean and sterilize equipment if needed and maintain equipment. Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly dispose of contaminated equipment or other materials used.

•

 As directed by TB Supervisor, orders food/snack supplies for patients prepares letters and conducts other office duties as needed.

•

Serve as Wake County Fit Test Trainer, and Fit Tester/Fit Test Coordinator for TB/CD staff.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
