This position does not allow the ERRN to make independent medical judgments or medical diagnosis. Plans, directs, or coordinates the daily patient care activities in a clinical practice and ensures adherence to established clinical policies, protocols, regulations, and standards. Provides client-centered counseling based on the state-approved Counseling, Testing, and Referral (CTR) training curriculum to clients who are HIV positive and to any other client who requests this service. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Provides essential STD services which are defined as taking a medical history including sexual risk assessment, a physical examination inclusive of the upper and lower body, laboratory testing, treatment, counseling, and referral necessary for the evaluation of individuals with an exposure to or symptoms suggestive of a sexually transmitted infection in accordance with current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) STD Treatment Guidelines and the Division of Public Health STD Treatment Guidelines as published in the current North Carolina Sexually Transmitted Diseases Public Health Program Manual | 1 | 40% | • | Assesses client's physical, mental and social health status. Compares client results with normal values and findings. Determines if additional information is needed. Triages individual symptoms to provide guidance to client or caretaker based on approved Standing Orders or approved Medical Guidelines. Determines need for referral to provider. Identifies patterns of cause and effect related to client’s health status, including relevant factors in the family and community. Reassesses as indicated and monitor for changes in health status. | 2 | 30% | • | Teaches and counsels client and significant others regarding the client's health care status for the purpose of increased knowledge to promote optimum level of health functioning, participation in self care and ability to make informed decisions.
