Primary Purpose

Serves as Lead Epidemiologist and subject matter expert responsible for surveillance, reporting, and epidemiologic investigation related to healthcare-associated and antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Leads outbreak response investigations in all types of healthcare settings, specifically investigations into outbreaks of multi-drug resistant organisms.

Supervise, leads, directs and reviews the work of Epidemiology Specialists and support roles in order to accomplish goals

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology


Required Experience

•

Two years of related experience


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Preferred Education

•

Master's Degree

Epidemiology or Public Health

Or


Preferred Licenses and Certifications


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Experience in data analytic tools and software programs such as Excel, SAS, or SPSS.

•

Knowledge of Public Health Epidemiology.

•

Knowledge of surveillance and data sources.
