Primary Purpose

Oversees the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention section through planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that produce desired outcomes in the areas of health promotion/education and screening services especially for disparate populations. Oversees the agency's integrated injury and drug overdose prevention action plan. Directly supervises staff that provide professional, programmatic support services such as technical training and development; contracts and grants management; budget, human resources and other business management functions; or other program-specific support services.

•

Provides project and program oversight, guidance, and feedback to section managers and staff. Evaluates project and program performance through metrics, deliverables, and timelines. Supports functional managers in determining goals, objectives, and resource allocations.

Recommends new approaches and innovative solutions to ensure continuous improvement and efficiencies within the Health Promotion & Disease Prevention (HP&DP) section.

•

Evaluates HP&DP section policies and processes. Conducts compliance audits and recommends solutions to adhere to federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices.

•

Coordinates and meets with HP&DP Section staff and community leaders to develop processes for administration of projects and programs, including budgetary or fiscal administration functions.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
