Primary Purpose

Manages the administrative and operational activities for occupational health to ensure compliance with all mandates to promote the health and safety of employees and clients.

 

Essential Functions

•

Assures compliance with infection prevention mandates. Ensures necessary Tuberculosis screenings are completed.  Maintains the Respiratory Protection Program.  Provides 24/7 case management for bloodborne pathogen exposure.

Assures that Human Services employees are in compliance with all workplace safety measures required by Wake County, the North Carolina Department of Labor and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.  Directs new employees to complete an occupational health risk assessment. Maintains employee occupational health records and provides all necessary occupational health trainings.

Provides direct supervision to Occupational Health and Safety Staff.

Supports quality assurance activities related to infection prevention and occupational health and safety.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Knowledge and Experience

•

Requires deep knowledge of discipline typically obtained through advanced education combined with extensive experience. Typically viewed as having a specialty within a discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management.

•

Within Medical or Scientific Disciplines, typically requires a doctoral degree and post-doctoral training.


Qualifications


Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Occupational Health, Nursing or a related field
