Primary Purpose

The Pharmacy Director provides the overall direction of pharmacy operations, human resources, and financial management of the Wake County Human Services (WCHS) pharmacy. The job ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services and meets all legal, regulatory, accreditation, and certification requirements while complying with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards. The job also supervises the Immunization Tracking Team, including staff management and budgetary revenues and expenses.  Participates in department emergency preparedness and response activities, which may include temporary changes in responsibilities and working hours.

 

 

Essential Functions

Supervises the staff within the pharmacy and the Immunization Tracking Team.

Provides management to all WCHS pharmacy services including outlying locations (e.g. regional centers)

Oversees the patient assistance programs for behavioral health clients receiving services at WCHS.

Ensures medical countermeasures for Wake County and emergency preparedness and acts as the pharmacy resource on State Bioterrorism Committee, participating in bioterrorism exercises

Works as a pharmacist within WCHS pharmacy when needed due to staff shortages

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy


Required Experience

•

Five years of pharmacy experience, 1 year of management experience


Required Licenses and Certifications

Must be licensed with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy upon hire

•

Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted
