Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Establishes guiding principles, goals and objectives, operational policies and procedures for the school health program based on current best practices. Analyzes the health needs of the student population, plans, implements, manages and evaluates the health services provided. | 1 | 30% | • | Creates and oversees staff work flow and tasks. Defines goals, communicates objectives and monitors staff performance. Manages all on boarding activities, oversees professional development, performance of staff, discipline, approves work schedules, and time sheet approvals. Hires and provides direct supervision to school health nurse supervisors and indirect supervision to over 100 school nurses, dental hygienists and support staff. | 2 | 30% | • | Develops and manages the school health program business plan, budget and quality assurance. Ensures accurate data collection, analysis and production of program outcome and productivity reports to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) School Health Program and Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and Wake County Human Services (WCHS) senior management. | 3 | 20% | • | Collaborates and communicates with Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) partners to ensure proper delivery of services in accordance to state and federal regulations and programs priorities. Additional Responsibilities | • | Ensures own knowledge and understanding of the state and county regulations governing nursing practice and relevant specialty areas. Obtains required continuing professional education and maintain required current licensure and certifications. | • | Initiates and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities. | • | Represents the WCHS school health program at national, state, regional and county professional and operational business meetings. | | | |
