Primary Purpose

Manage the activities, projects and staff members in the Oracle and SQL Database Administration area.  Support business users in their functional area, troubleshoot problems and directs the implementation and completion of special projects.  Prepare recommendations for hardware and software acquisitions, staffing and special projects.  Contribute to the budget preparation process.  Monitor the database regularly to manage memory, CPU and storage resources and to gather statistics to tune the databases for best performance.  Architect system changes to generate additional capacity required for growth and/or stability.  Defines and implements disaster recovery strategies and plans as needed.  Document and enforce standards for creating databases and database objects, accessing databases, managing backups and promoting applications from test to production environments.  Ensure database service practices meet the changing needs of the applications and infrastructure environments.  Manage vendor relations and researches new technologies in the database and infrastructure area.

•

Knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with the services delivered by the department

Experience installing and supporting MS SQL Server 2008 – 2014 or Oracle versions 11.2 through Oracle 19C

•

Extensive experience using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or writing and reviewing Oracle PL/SQL

•

Advanced SQL coding skills for both adhoc usage and creation of stored procedures and functions

•

Experience using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Oracle SQL*Plus

•

MS PowerShell or BASH shell scripting experience

•

Experience supporting both hosted and on-premise applications
