Primary Purpose

Works with business units as a technical advisor to support new and existing GIS projects. Assists business units in gathering requirements for automation workflows, recommends modifications and technology solutions, and serves on project teams to provide technical support and expertise. Implements solutions to enhance efficiency, improve workflow, and solve problems.

Worka independently, as part of a team and in cross functional teams for a variety of projects and initiatives.

•

Manages GIS content in a Content Management System (ArcGIS Online, Web Authoring platform, SharePoint, Esri Maps for PowerBI and/or other emerging technologies as appropriate). Supports users with training, communication, and applies governance and policy.

•

Creates deliverables for Department and public customers that include ArcGIS Online Story Maps, digital datasets, dashboards, and desktop analyses resulting in maps and reports.

•

Serves as data steward for assigned GIS datasets. Maintains currency of layers, follows best practices in alignment with Enterprise Data and Platform Governance.

•

Creates models of geospatial workflows to document and facilitate the automation of workflows.

•

Follows GIS and IT standards, policies and procedures in the management of the GIS platform. Enhances personal proficiency and knowledge of GIS, county information systems and related technologies. Stays current with GIS industry trends/expertise and explore ways to effectively apply knowledge, skills and abilities to the work of Wake County government.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems or related field


Required Experience

•

Two years of experience in geographic information systems


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
