Primary Purpose

Analyzes, designs, constructs, and manages IT systems and IT resources which support current and future technology platforms and applications for a business unit. Researches and evaluates products which may enhance current or future activities. Troubleshoots and resolves complex IT issues. Serves as a technical lead or subject matter expert for supported IT Platforms in support of the business unit. Directs the implementation and completion of special projects as assigned.

Creates and supports applications for Departments, GIS Teams, and the public. Codes, tests, and deploys mapping applications using modern frameworks for browser applications and field data collection.

Codes automation and ETL processes using Python and SQL. Maintains modern script portfolio employing significant error trapping and push notifications in support of system uptime and performance.

•

Provides technical platform design, support, and assistance. This includes development, system configurations, problem analysis, and resolution.

•

Mentors GIS Senior Analysts and Analyst to develop team capacity for application development and data management.

•

Provides technical assistance in business process redesign, workflows, as related to system configurations and performance.

•

Serves as technical lead/resource for system software and hardware monitoring, performance, and interoperability. Performs system upgrades, enhancements, and associated training.

•

Provides annual budget requirements for systems and platforms including management of system life cycle. Provides vendor, license, and contract management as appropriate.

Follows GIS and IT standards, policies and procedures in the management of the GIS platform. Enhances personal proficiency and knowledge of GIS, county information systems, and related technologies. Stays current with GIS industry trends/expertise and explore ways to effectively apply knowledge, skills and abilities to the work of Wake County government.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems or related field


Required Experience

•

Four years of experience in information systems or geographic information systems


Qualification Equivalency

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
