Primary Purpose

Assess the magnitude/timing of change and the organization's change readiness and creates tailored implementation, communication and training plans to successfully transition impacted staff from the current technology state to the future state. Provide a smooth and successful workforce transition to improve employee adoption and increase business benefit. Prepare and deliver communication and marketing plans for major technology initiatives.

 

Essential Functions

Develop and implement an organizational change management methodology to create conditions for a smooth transition to change and promote maximum enthusiasm to adapt to the change.

Create tailored change management plans with respect to training and orientation to accommodate the needs of different stakeholder groups impacted by the change.

Prepare and deliver communication and marketing plans for major technology initiatives including news releases and articles, feature stories, tips, guides, instructions, how-to documentation and training curriculums for non-technical audiences.

•

Develop department specific communications, examples include: the annual business plan, budget material, performance measures, award entries, technical policies, and internet/intranet content.

•

Solicit feedback to assess the success of the change management activities and behavior changes so that they align with strategic objectives.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related


Required Experience

•

Four years of experience in change management communications

Experience writing communications and instructions for a wide range of audiences. Background or experience in employee communications is preferred.

•

Ability to understand and assess the impact of major technical changes on business processes.

•

Proven ability to solicit information on organizational direction, goals, strategy and business processes to determine how change management activities can add value to the organization and to customer satisfaction.

•

Exceptional written, oral and presentation communication skills, which are essential for interacting with key stakeholders at all levels across the organization to manage, inform and influence successful project outcomes.

•

Experience developing and writing content including documentation, examples, instructions, FAQ’s, best practices, profiles, tutorials, case studies, other project-related documentation and promotional materials.

•

Experience developing, executing and supporting a set of actionable and targeted change management plans, including but not limited to communication plans, sponsor/stakeholder plans, training plans and business readiness and measurement plans.

•

Good technical aptitude and genuine interest in technical communications.

•

Demonstrated experience in working with diverse teams.

•

Excellent listening skills.
