Primary Purpose

Serve as Project Manager for electronic content management, planning and permitting, and land records technology related projects. Direct project teams and maintain all project deliverables including project scheduling, risk management, change management, issue management, status reporting and contract management. Oversee all aspects of project execution, using best practice project management methodology. Responsible for assuring projects are on-budget, on-time, and delivered with the expected value to the stakeholders and sponsors.

Provide project management for Information Services and business unit initiatives. Maintain all project deliverables including project scope, requirement changes, and objectives, scheduling, communications, risk management/ mitigation,  issue management, and status reporting.

Manage procurement, including contract negotiation, expense monitoring, and vendor adherence to timelines.

Anticipate operational and tactical risks and track them. Remove barriers, resolve minor project issues and escalate to sponsors where required.

Provide leadership to the project's participants and stakeholders, including managing expectations, conducting meetings, maintaining timelines, communicating needs, and providing clear information.

Enhance personal proficiency and knowledge of county information systems and technology. Stay current with IT industry trends and explore ways to effectively apply new technologies to the work of Wake County government.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field
