Primary Purpose

Analyze, design, construct, and manage IT systems and IT resources which support current and future technology platforms and applications for a business unit. Research and evaluate products which may enhance current or future activities. Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues. Serve as a technical lead or subject matter expert for supported IT Platforms in support of the business unit. Direct the implementation and completion of special projects as assigned.

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Proven experience providing support for vendor managed systems in a client/server environment to include managing the communications and testing for vendor releases, configuring system settings according to defined business rules and processes, managing test environment updates, assign and manage end user system security, assist with end user training, and participate in system implementation.

•

Ability to modify existing and/or create new documentation for ongoing application support.

•

Ability to gain an understanding of system architecture and database configurations.

•

Must have excellent data analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis. Attention to detail a must.

•

Demonstrated experience developing reports using software and report writer tools to provide data for public request for information, run ad hoc queries for internal data, and create customized reports.

•

Ability to respond to after-hours support calls.

•

Ability and willingness to collaborate with and build strong working relationships with business units.

•

Ability to deliver high level of customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.

•

Ability to collaborate with Security team to maintain security policies and protocol for the system and mobility team to manage mobile devices to be used by the application.

•

Excellent communication skills to clearly discuss and convey complex information technology concepts and terminology with a diverse group of end users, including County senior leadership, IT technical staff, non-technical staff, and vendors.
