Senior Librarians apply library knowledge and experience in project design and implementation to meet the unique technology and PR needs for successful library programming and services. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Manage Library Public Relations and Awareness Campaigns and Materials: Work with Library Directors, County Communications and Senior Managers to develop a comprehensive PR plan for library programs and services; coordinate with Library Managers and Department Managers to develop PR for specific library programs and initiatives; Develop graphics for use on library website and social media; Develop signs for book displays and internal library use. | 4 | 20% | • | Maintain Library Presence on Social Media: Regularly post to WCPL social media accounts to promote library programs and services as well as to engage with the community and foster a love of books and reading; monitor social media account stats and trends to help drive and shape effective posts; utilize library social media accounts to share relevant library information with patrons re: closings, holidays, etc. | 5 | 20% | • | Provide Library Website Review, Updates and Maintenance: Regularly review website to assure up-to-date and relevant info, as well as functionality and usability; update website as needed with information about programs, services, and policies; where applicable, contact County Web Team to address special content and structural needs for library website; oversee and support online tools used for programming and operational needs; Identify needs for specialized online tools or interfaces to support library programs and services; create custom web content and/or tools, or research and acquire vendor-based tools to meet identified needs for specialized online tools and interfaces. | 3 | 20% | • | Support Integrated Library System (ILS) staff in configuring, managing and troubleshooting the online catalog: Partner with ILS staff in support and troubleshooting for ILS and online catalog related issues; coordinate with ILS staff as well as library staff and managers to support Overdrive eBooks and other online resources; assist with general support for online interfaces and backend systems such as SIP ports necessary for delivery of online services; coordinate with Library IT for relevant projects; meet with Library IT regularly for project coordination. | 2 | 20% | • | AskWCPL Customer Support: Monitor AskWCPL email address and online support portal to provide support to patrons in regard to Downloadable library content, online library content and reading resources, account and collection questions and issues, and information about library programs, services, events and policies. | 1 | 20% | | | | | | | |
