Examines existing taxpayers' fixed asset and other financial records to identify reporting errors along with research, identification and discovery of taxpayers who never reported. Works independently with frequent interaction with accountants, attorneys, and professional consultants. Performs formal written audit reports as well as written and verbal defense of audit findings are required. Performs audits primarily at the taxpayer's location or the taxpayer's representative's business location. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Conducts Business Personal Property and Gross Receipts Tax audits. | 1 | 25% | • | Applies auditing and accounting principles and practices in examination of taxpayer records and returns. | 2 | 10% | • | Examines internal and external resources to independently identify audit opportunities and schedule appointments. | 3 | 10% | • | Discovers, lists and values unreported and underreported property. | 4 | 10% | • | Completes formal written audit reports and develop summary spreadsheets and tables. | 5 | 10% | • | Discusses and resolves controversial tax matters with professional judgement utilizing tax research skills as needed. | 6 | 10% | • | Prepares and defends audit findings. | 7 | 10% | • | Provides technical guidance and assistance to Tax Administration staff. | 8 | 10% | • | Responds to inquiries from business taxpayers. | 9 | 5% | | | | | | | |
