Primary Purpose

Conducts interviews and evaluates inmates to ensure appropriate placement within the detention facility. Maintains safety of inmates and staff at the detention facility. Coordinates educational and recreational programs. Refers prisoners for possible community substance abuse programs. Oversees and coordinates outside personnel from community agencies or educational institutions.

Coordinates substance abuse programs, activity programs and athletic programs. Schedules meetings regarding inmates.

Maintains records, prepares reports and composes correspondence related to the program.

Obtains custody clearance for all outside guest that work with inmates.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field


Required Experience

•

Five years of experience in detention classification with supervisory experience included


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Preferred Education

•

Bachelor's Degree
