Primary Purpose

Supports the Learning & Development function in designing, developing, and implementing learning and development and training programs specifically for trainers. Leads the county training certification initiatives and imparts information to trainers so they can become Certified Program Training Specialists. Monitors and provides feedback to trainers, mentors, and supervisors to focus on continual skill enrichment by working with the Training Supervisor to compose learning development plans. Serves as a technical skill resource to other trainers, supervisors, and managers. Consults with a variety of work groups to identify the root cause of errors and develops technical skills enrichment training that will reduce the reoccurring errors, and develops and continues to enhance the core competencies required for the entire Program and Staff Development Team.

 

 

 

Essential Functions

Trains trainers on the curriculum to be certified as a trainer, observes their teach backs, collaborates with the supervisor, composes a development plan, communicates the plan to each trainer and monitors their progress.

Composes ongoing training curriculum for existing and new trainers.

Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of an online Knowledge Management System for the agency.

Facilitates process improvement work groups, sets goals, reports findings and conducts refresher training to ensure the group's success.

Assists with delivering program training based on turnover and agency needs.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 


Additional Responsibilities

•

Uses the data provided by the Quality Assurance Supervisor to identify training needs and designs a curriculum accordingly.

•

Consults with Training Supervisor, Program Managers, Directors, and Assistant Directors to target and plan for revising curriculum based on agency needs and other assessments. 

•

Mentors trainers.

•

Other duties as assigned.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Ability to instructionally teach others on how to perform training objectives.

•

Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

•

Knowledge of Social Services program policy and regulations.

•

Familiarity with adult learning concepts and online instructional training required.

•

Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

•

Ability to collaborate with the trainee and supervisor to compose, communicate and monitor the implementation of an employee development plan.

•

Ability to present information to individuals or groups and facilitate the learning process.

•

Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

•

Strong oral and written communication skills including presentations and training.
