The job assesses risk throughout the life of a case and ensures families utilize recommended services that will enable parents to provide appropriate care, discipline, and supervision when cases are closed. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Conducts planned and unannounced home visits to initiate reports alleging abuse, neglect, and/or dependency (regarding children under the age of 18 years) by interviewing all children considered as victim according to policy, their parents/caretakers on the same day within the mandated timeframes (immediate, 24 hours, or 72 hours), based on the severity of the allegation(s), to assess the safety and well-being of children | 1 | 20% | • | Conducts interviews with nonresident parents and siblings within 7 days of the report date | 2 | 15% | • | Consults with a county attorney regarding petitioning the court for custody of children when parents are not able to demonstrate the ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment | 3 | 15% | • | Conducts interviews with collateral contacts (professionals and nonprofessionals) throughout the life of a case | 4 | 10% | • | Compiles documentation for all contacts pertaining to a case within 7 days of each contact | 5 | 10% | • | Coordinates and monitors services that were identified as a need for the family | 6 | 10% | • | Exports documents pertaining to information gathered during the life of a case into the document management system (OnBase) within 7 days of each contact | 7 | 10% | • | Interfaces during meetings (e.g. Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, Child Planning Conference (CPC, court), Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, family meetings, fictive kin, foster parents, service providers, Departments of Social Services in North Carolina and other states, school systems, court systems, law enforcement agencies, district attorney's office, correctional facilities' staff, and staff within the Child Welfare (CW) division | 8 | 10% | | | | | | | |
