Primary Purpose

Provides supervision to a Prevention, Placement, and Permanency (PPP) Services unit designed to achieve permanency for children and youth in the legal custody of Wake County Department of Human Services in a safe and timely manner. Supervises five or more Social Workers, participates in the development of community partnerships, supports service integration, and facilitates the implementation of services and systems designed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of youth in care.

Supervises a Prevention, Placement, Permanency (PPP) unit of five or more Social Workers through the following tasks: engages in Social Worker hiring processes; conducts the onboarding of new Social Workers; provides supervision in colleagues' absence; completes staff performance reviews; participates in case staffings, assessments, and related decision-making processes; reviews documentation for accuracy and compliance; meets with Social Workers individually and collectively in review of policies and procedures, to lend support and encouragement, and to offer guidance in the implementation of new initiatives; prepares Social Workers for court involvement and testimony; ensures Social Workers meet training requirements; and initiates disciplinary action as needed.

Engages in the planning and development of Prevention, Placement, and Permanency Services through the following tasks: reviews and assigns new case referrals for service; participates in

meetings designed to support and achieve permanency and wellbeing for youth in care; reviews cases for progression and alignment with established plans and court orders; maintains unit data around core functions and prepares reports accordingly; develops and maintains partnerships with community groups and external service providers; participates in workgroups tasked with implementing policy, developing protocols, and other special projects; attends court hearings and testifies as needed; works collaboratively with Guardian Ad Litems, county attorneys, and other service providers as a representative of The Department of Human Services; and supports the development of resources and the integration of service delivery for families and children

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
