Primary Purpose

Leads and directs the Adult Protective Services Team to protect elderly and disabled adults in Wake County from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

 

Essential Functions

Supervises and leads Adult Protective Services team to ensure the integrity of the work. Makes procedural changes as necessary to improve the quality of the work, meet the demand for services and improve efficiency. Confers and/or meets with State División of Aging and Adult Services representative regarding APS overall compliance with regulations  and to discuss policy, changes, problems and sharing information.

Conducts regular staff meetings to provide guidance and support as well as individual conferences as needed to review job performance. Evaluates workload issues and plans to ensure that programmatic and agency outcomes are met as efficiently and effectively as possible.

•

Reviews casework regularly to assure a high level of accuracy and to identify training needs. Stays informed of all policy changes and determines the impact on the work.

•

Responds to questions and complaints from the general public, Division of Adult and Aging Services, Division of Health Service Regulation, staff and other agencies concerning programmatic issues.

Additional Responsibilities

•

Responds to duties as assigned by the Program Manager.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
