Primary Purpose

Issues electronic food benefits and makes final eligibility determination for applicants for the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).  Provides client education regarding usage of the electronic food benefits and the certification process; and to provide customer service to WIC Program's current and prospective clients through phone reception.

Screens income, eligibility determination, benefit issuance, and program explanation for the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) at all service locations.

•

Registers clients for services, interviews clients on a one-to-one basis; accesses computer-based records; makes eligibility and issuance determination based on federal and state rules and regulations; enters information and data within clients' records. Issues electronic food benefits.

•

Answers incoming calls and inquiries regarding the program; assists public with program explanation, schedules all WIC appointments, and makes referrals to other agencies and services.

•

Assists with special projects and duties as requested, performing research, gathering materials and collecting and entering data.

Provides client education on benefits of program and nutrition education

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Required Education
