Primary Purpose

Manages the daily operations of field services operations and planning including but not limited to emergency field response, emergency response coordination and planning in the areas of fixed nuclear sites, hazardous materials, emergency response and homeland security.

 

Essential Functions

Manages the Emergency Management operational program goals, objectives and performance measures. Documents and reports status of performance measures and develops solutions to overcome obstacles.

Supervises Staff Duty Officers and Planners associated with core Emergency Management programs. Monitors employee performance and performs performance reviews.

•

Fulfills duties of the Deputy Director in his/her absence fulfilling legal requirements including operating the Emergency Operations Center.

Coordinates multiple programs ensuring alignment with complimentary programs within and outside of the Emergency Management Division.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related field.


Required Experience

•

Five years of emergency management experience.

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
