Applies state rules and regulations addressing childhood lead poisoning prevention to residences and child-occupied facilities. Performs State-mandated activities including surveillance, environmental assessments, sampling drinking water, and recordkeeping. Makes adjustments and recommends enhancements to solve problems or improve effectiveness of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. Provides guidance to Environmental Health Specialists with regards to potential lead hazards in inspected facilities, and state water sampling requirements. Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | Administers lead poisoning prevention program, implementing program enhancements as needed to improve the effectiveness and the outcomes of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. Reports key metrics such as surveillance data to appropriate agencies. Seeks opportunities for funding through Medicaid reimbursement or other means. | 1 | 30% | • | Conducts and documents environmental assessments of properties for presence of lead hazards and evaluates compliance with the remediation orders. Conducts assessments and remediation activities for childcare centers and schools identified as having water-related childhood lead poisoning hazards. Educates property owners on purpose and required components of a remediation plan. Evaluates remediation plans and ensures remediation activities have been completed in accordance with regulations. | 2 | 35% | • | Educates and communicates with stakeholders within and outside the program to provide education and outreach that increases lead poisoning prevention awareness. Provides general interpretations and case-by-case guidance regarding lead poisoning risks to Environmental health Specialists inspecting childcare centers. Trains environmental health specialists or support staff as needed. | 3 | 15% | • | Communicates in writing with parents and property owners regarding status of lead investigations.
