Primary Purpose

Supports excellent customer experience by using strong project management, analytical, and reporting skills to streamline technical environmental health processes that are constrained by regulations and enforcement standards. Coordinates quality improvement initiatives that affect external customers including architects, builders, facility operators, and municipal partners. Develops interventions and strategies based on the technical aspects of our division, analyzing data to support the program managers in making policy decisions. Surveys stakeholders and develops solutions that improve their experience without jeopardizing compliance with requirements.

Coordinates quality improvement initiatives that affect external customers including architects, builders, facility operators, and municipal partners. Supports excellent customer experience by using strong project management, analytical, and reporting skills to streamline technical environmental health processes are constrained by regulations and enforcement standards. Serves as a primary support for the managers by managing projects and offering recommendations for their consensus.

Develops metrics that show the effectiveness of the program. Recommends strategies to address inconsistencies. Metrics include both quantitative (turnaround time) and qualitative (customer survey) data. Maintains and analyzes division data and develops reports for review. Creates reports that assist managers with program decisions. Assists with budget preparation and monitoring.

Manages external surveys, training tools (videos, etc.), and communication such as the website, that support customer experience.

Supports environmental health and safety processes such as database management, plan review, permitting, and inspection and outbreak investigation.

Fulfills other duties as required by the department, including disaster and emergency response


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in science or a related technical field


Required Experience

•

Three years of experience in environmental health, process improvement, project management, and/or data analysis


Required Licenses and Certifications

•

Valid drivers license and a "safe" driving record


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted

•

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills being able to succinctly communicate, market and sell practical EHS&S solutions to all levels of company/business/and facility personnel. 

•

Can effectively lead and motivate teams engaging people acting as a role model.

•

Advanced understanding of EHS regulations, management systems, regulatory agencies, trends and resources. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

•

Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required. Anticipate problems and communicate solutions before college staff and students are in jeopardy of injury.
