Primary Purpose

Landlord Engagement Consultants enthusiastically recruit new landlords to the Landlord Engagement Unit (LEU) program and develop/maintain strong relationships with landlords providing affordable housing. Landlord Engagement Consultants serve as the point of contact for the landlords they recruit for the duration of that landlord's participation in that the LEU program. Landlord Engagement Consultants plan for and list units as they are available for LEU Housing Lead Specialists to share with providers and clients. Landlord Engagement Consultants communicate and support landlords through every step of the LEU program process.

 

Essential Functions

In collaboration with the LEU Program Manager and Research, Data & Systems Division Director, actively recruits and develops relationships with landlords to increase the availability of affordable housing units

Identifies access points for landlord engagement such as clerk of the court and property records, real estate developers and investors, classified ads, property management and landlord associations, industry groups, trade shows, faith-based organizations, media releases, mailings, social media, new buildings under construction, etc.

Establishes processes and collaborates with the service providers and partners for resolution of landlord complaints or ensures adequate programmatic responses and assistance to participants' housing issues to improve participant and landlord retention.

Provides exceptional customer service to ensure relationships with program participants, landlords, partners, and contracting agencies are maintained in accordance with contract obligations and LEU expectations

Develops strategies for recognition of landlords such as thank you events, spotlights, thank you notes for landlords who participate in the program.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

Bachelor's degree in relevant field


Required Experience

Three (3) years in  leasing, real estate, city planning/public policy, subsidy programs marketing, or sales


Required Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Understanding and commitment to “Housing First” principles in ending homelessness

Outgoing and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and culturally diverse environment.

Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Ability to tactfully bring conflict and disagreements into the open to manage them collaboratively, build consensus to resolve/mediate issues between landlords and tenants.

Effective time management and prioritization of activities.

Proficiency Microsoft Office 365 applications including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Planner, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Strong organizational skills with aptitude for project management and multitasking to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Ability to present and maintain professional interactions with team members, community organizations and partner organizations via written, verbal and in-person communications.

Strong sense of ownership of work processes and outcomes while gaining support and cooperation from others using creative approaches to influence and mobilize the processes and outcomes

Ability to manage change while working as part of a team.
