Primary Purpose

Connects individuals and organizations with services thru Wake County Animal Center (WCAC) or community partners. Responsible for grant writing to obtain resources to help people and pets in underserved areas of Wake County. Finds and leads community outreach opportunities in underserved areas of Wake County. Oversees and maintains WCAC's social media presence including community outreach, education, adoptable pets at WCAC and positive stories related to WCAC and the work that is done at the Animal Center and with our community partners. Oversees the Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator and works with them to meet the goals for WCAC. 

 

Essential Functions

•

Establish and expand services, resources and information to underserved Wake County communities thru assisting pet owners with affordable animal care resources (vet care, pet food, supplies, training) and researching, applying for and monitoring grants to assist community pet owners

Create and publish relevant, creative and high-quality content on all social media platforms including the Wake County Animal Center website.

Build relationships with social service organizations, community groups and community leaders to support underserved pet owners.

Responsible for maintaining the Wake County Animal Center website, adding / removing content as well as keeping the Events calendar up to date.

Act as liaison to the Communications Department.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Knowledge of social media usage and ways to target community members, communication and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform community members via written, oral and visual media.
