Primary Purpose

Provides research, program analysis, project management, and related support to the County Manager's Office and other assigned County Departments.

 

Actively engages with County leadership and staff throughout the organization to support various projects and initiatives during their fellowship. While the fellow will be placed in the County Manager's Office, they will have ample opportunities to meet and work with colleagues across the enterprise.

 

Wake County values active, meaningful work projects for its management fellow. The County also places a high priority on professional development in this role. County leadership and staff will make an intentional effort to, where possible, link the fellow with projects and assignments that align with their professional interests and desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Essential Functions

Conducts policy research, program evaluations, and data analysis for the County Manager’s Office.

Prepares written communications and presentations to others that effectively, concisely, and accurately describe issues, problems, analyses, solutions, conclusions, and recommendations.

Researches, gathers, and assembles disparate information from a variety of sources into usable format. Presents findings effectively to management.

Provides project management and support. Assists executives and staff with planning and execution of projects in County Manager’s Office and departments.

•

Assists departments in their improvement efforts by providing analytical support in the areas of policy, processes, and communications. Participates in initiatives that involve changing current business practices. Offers critical feedback to ensure viability of proposed initiatives. Provides advice and technical assistance.

•

Participates actively in committees, panels, and meetings. Supports shared learning and communication in concert with colleagues and partners.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
