Directs clinical activities to ensure clinic efficiency and quality care. Trains all newly hired dental assistants to ensure proper orientation to the dental clinic protocols and procedures. Provides responsible, quality dental patient care and instrument processing, and has a knowledge of dental equipment/devices used while supporting and assisting the Dentist. Maintains clinic supply and inventory and provides the Dental Director with a supply order list for the clinic on a routine basis. Delivers quality and compassionate care to every patient while ensuring adherence to all dental office policies and procedures including but not limited to CDC guidelines/recommendations for the dental setting and OSHA. | | | | | | | | |
Essential Functions | | | Priority | % Time | • | .Leads, directs, and provides supervision of dental assistants. | 1 | 10% | • | Executes clinical dental assisting functions to include but not limited to: seat and ready patient for dental healthcare provider; expose, process and mount dental x-rays; assist dental healthcare provider chairside; record dictated items in patient’s dental chart; assist in behavior management of patient; provide sealant and coronal polishing procedures. | 2 | 30% | • | Implements and follows outlined infection control procedures for the dental setting to include but not limited to: proper operatory breakdown and set-up between patients; proper sterilization of dental instruments between patients including recording sterilization activity on appropriate logs. | 3 | 25% | • | Reviews and monitors performance of dental assistants in order accomplish dental clinic goals and ensure quality patient care. Conducts regular meetings with direct reports along with annual performance review. | 4 | 5% | • | Maintains adequate inventory of needed dental clinic supplies; generates supply order list on a routine basis or as needed. | 5 | 5% | • | Executes appropriate training of all dental assistants to ensure proper dental clinic orientation to effectively assist team members in providing quality care to dental patients. | 6 | 5% | • | Ensures efficiency and effectiveness of clinic flow. | 7 | 5% | • | Establishes dental assistant assignments with dental providers and works with clinic leadership to determine work schedule for staff. | 8 | 5% | • | Participates in regular dental clinic leadership meetings (i.e. Dental Director and Patient Access Supervisor) to identify gaps in dental care and areas that need improvement. | 9 | 5% | • | Executes administrative tasks to include but not limited to: ensuring appropriate charges documented in patient’s chart and completed to appropriate provider; assist in front desk as assigned; routine auditing of all dental clinic sterilization logs for accreditation. | 10 | 5% | | | | | | | |
