Primary Purpose

Assists with the day to day operations of the Communicable Disease Team, by assigning daily tasks to staff and make it evenly dispersed. Assists with training of new staff along with the CD Supervisor. Monitors and assesses for concerns, productivity, advises the CD Supervisor and acts as a liaison for staff. Assists with outbreaks while continuing to carry a caseload. Acts as back-up for the CD Supervisor and covers whenever the CD Supervisor is absent.

Directs the day to day operations of the Communicable Disease Team. May assign daily tasks to the team from the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NCEDSS) and keeps a spreadsheet of cases completed with time frames. Is back up to the CD Nurse Supervisor.

Assists the CD Nurse Supervisor with orientation and training of new staff members in their area of expertise and monitors for concerns, assures understanding of disease process and how to navigate the data bases required for documentation.

•

Monitors work and quality assurance to ensure proper data entry into the NC Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NCEDSS) is done correctly and timely within the State regulations. Periodically reviews records for audits and quality assurance. Discusses any concerns around staff with the CD Supervisor.

Assists the team with outbreaks as needed and keeps the day to day operations flowing as outbreaks occur so that the required work continues and does not get behind.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
