Primary Purpose

Advance the County's diversity, equity, and inclusivity mission, values, and strategy by fostering a culture of inclusion and allowing everyone to bring their authentic selves to the workplace. Partner with the DEI Director and key stakeholders to execute strategic plans focused on developing leaders' and employees' skills in creating an inclusive and equitable environment.  Assist in developing and implementing programs and training offerings, support the creation of short and long-term equity goals, track metrics, and develop reports that measure results and inform decision making. Advocate and foster a culture of inclusion through your commitment and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Support interpersonal skill building and infrastructure strategies to address inequities in practices, policies, and programs. 

 

Essential Functions

 

 

Priority

Leads the conceptualization, planning, implementation and evaluation of DEI strategies, programs, and initiatives for organizational departments and divisions.  This includes identifying departmental DEI goals, developing annual plan, and supporting successful implementation.

Contributes to the implementation of various DEI initiatives for the entire organization.  This includes training for employees, managers, coordinating and facilitating courageous conversations,  DEI programming and communications of cultural celebrations and other diversity calendar events and assistance with strategic internal and external communications.

Evaluates the short- and long-term impact of DEI strategies through effective goal setting, key performance indicators (KPI), action plans, surveys, and metrics to assess and track progress over time.  This includes supporting the integration of existing organizational priorities to support diversity, equity, and inclusivity.

Creates presentations, communications and reports to update and influence stakeholders and the public on DEI strategies, programs, and initiatives

Gathers and performs research and analysis on current DEI trends and best practices, benchmarking, needs assessments, focus groups, surveys, and other forms determining impact / outcomes.  Prepares reports on other DEI priorities and collaborates with the DEI Manager on creating annual benchmarking reports.

Participates in continued DEI trainings and certifications for ongoing development.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
